Everyone's health and fitness journey is different, just like our bodies.
After all, our goals vary; some people want to become stronger, tone up, increase flexibility, or lose or gain weight. But a few commonalities remain the same regardless of the goal.
Wherever you are in your fitness journey, keep these at the top of your mind.
1. Consume an adequate amount of macronutrients and micronutrients
Our body needs fuel to perform mundane tasks, let alone perform at an optimal level, whether physical or mental exercise. Additionally, various nutrients are vital to keeping our organs functioning.
TIP: The body needs micronutrients and macronutrients. Read about it here.
2. Quality of food
Some may state that they can eat any food they want, and their bodies flush it out. While everyone's body differs, and the statement may not be 100% incorrect, we can all agree that consuming minimally processed foods is best.
3. Pacing your meals
Be strategic about when and what you eat. Some people find intermittent fasting effective, while others prefer to be mindful of the time and quality of their meals, like starting the day with breakfast packed with carbs and protein.
4. Frequent stretching
Stretching helps our muscles and affects our joints in the long run. Stretching increases flexibility and promotes a full range of motion with joints.
5. Don't abandon muscles
We all have specific muscles we give much attention to, but it's important to reciprocate the love to the supporting muscles. Muscle imbalance can impact the entire body, causing overuse and shifting the impact to other areas.
6. Adequate amount of sleep
Resting is essential to recovery and functioning correctly throughout the day. There's no substitute for sleep.
7. Get some sunshine
The sun doesn't only enable our bodies to produce the micronutrient vitamin D, but it's proven to brighten our mood too.
