Road to Fitness

Updated: Dec 27, 2022

Health and fitness aren’t for a select few. Everyone can take simple steps to get moving in the right direction.

It’s not a race to see who is stronger, faster, cutter, etc. It’s an individual journey that’s composed of so many elements. Identifying the people, places, and things around you can help you determine the best way to move closer to your goals.

People around you

Consider spending more time with people who have similar goals. If you want to incorporate more vegetables into your diet, it may be a good idea to go grocery shopping with someone who has already mastered it or with someone working on the same goal. There’s power in numbers and sharing information.

  • Ask your friends and family about their health & fitness goals and develop a system to help each other.

  • Join a Facebook group, Redditt discussion, or Discord.

  • Speak with people who run at the same park or go to the same gym

Places around you

Not every neighborhood is set up to thrive with many food options or options that align with specific dietary guidelines. Identifying the places in your neighborhood that offer the services you need to thrive in your fitness journey is key. Also, it’s great to understand the neighborhoods en route to your destination and determine if any of those places better fit your needs. Be sure to identify places to move and eat.

  • Find grocery stores with fresh vegetables and fruits

  • Prepare a list of stores in Google Maps that offer better ‘fast food’ that aligns with your goals

  • Identify the gyms and classes in your neighborhood that can help you move consistently. Many organizations are focused on maintaining the health of their communities, so there are some free classes out there.

Things & Resources around you

We all heard the term ‘when you know better; you do better.’ This part of the journey is crucial. Seek out the information that will help you get further. There’s tons of information, so keep it simple and don’t try to understand everything at once. One step is a great step.

  • Seek professional help for any mental or physical elements that may be going on with your body

  • Literally, think of the tangible things around you. Can you purchase a few dumbbells or leverage the items in your home to lift periodically if you want to gain muscle mass?

  • Keep tabs on the reputable sources that get you the information you need to move forward, whether it’s Nobalti, Nike Running Club, etc.

We know it’s not always easy to be the person we want to be. We’re all trying. Let’s continue taking one step forward.
